We welcome your interest and support of Innovative Resources Management (IRM). We encourage you to read on and learn more about us and our expanding operations.
Innovative Resources Management (IRM) is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Washington, DC, USA. IRM works with local communities in developing countries to effectively respond to the complex challenges of sustainable development. We work to strengthen local institutions that promote sustainable natural resources management and build the technical and institutional capacities of beneficiary populations within developing nations. IRM stands at the forefront in using innovative field methods that empower communities and stake holder coalitions to assess and capitalize on economic development opportunities through the consistent promotion of improved governance and public participation.
WHAT IS IRM'S MISSION?
IRM is committed to assuming a catalytic leadership role in the building of
effective teams and coalitions, promoting effective natural resources
management and economic development, and strengthening the technical and
institutional capacity of all stakeholders. Our approach produces solutions
to the complex challenges that both sustainable development and biodiversity
conservation pose. We achieve results by helping communities, local organizations and a wide range of other stakeholders better assess and
respond to development opportunities. We have developed a particular
expertise in multi-stakeholder approaches to combating corruption that
enables economic development and sustainable natural resources management.
The IRM approach is based on enabling local communities to identify, share and analyze information about livelihoods, resources and management strategies. We help stakeholder coalitions respond to development opportunities by creating participatory, consensus-seeking processes to make key decisions and establish priorities for action. In facilitating group processes that produce clear understandings about stakeholder roles and responsibilities, we help to establish the conditions for effective monitoring of agreements and activities. In promoting program approaches that emphasize long term solutions and that build local capacity, IRM seeks to achieve its mission of bringing people, ideas and actions together in sustainable ways.
Recognizing that sustainable development starts with forging sustainable
relationships among partners, IRM is working worldwide to:
